On the 15th of December 2014, the Icons Coffee Couture coffee shop in Ras Al Khaimah, attempted to break a Guiness World record by hosting the world’s biggest dessert party. Icons Coffee Couture asked 796 sweet-toothed diners to join them for this record attempt at Mina Al Arab in the Northern Emirate.
In order to break the record currently held by an American ice cream parlour, a minimum of 795 people had to sample at least three desserts in a three hour time frame. Icons Coffee Couture prides itself on serving only healthy desserts, so all the offerings yesterday were sugar-free. More than Dhs 20,000 had been spent on preparing the 2,500 desserts required to win the record, The record attempt and branch opening coincided with the launch of the one of a kind dessert ‘The Golden Eve’, created by German Celebrity Pastry Chef, Stefan Kopetz and Icons Executive Chef, Lara Allegra Lange. The event was opened with the serving of this signature desert to H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saqr al Qassimi and his delegation, The previous Guinness World Record for the ‘Largest Dessert Party’ was broken with 3,000 desserts served to the 1,000 people attending the party.
I was fortunate enough to attend the event as one of the photographers tasked with documenting the record attempt. Congratulations to the Icon Team on their successful record challenge!!!!
