Every time I go to a concert I am always excited about recording the artists, but often the crowd is also a wonderful source of photographic material. They have an energy, enthusiasm and excitement that the musicians feed off and it is contagious. The concert goers are there because they enjoy the music and are wanting to be entertained, but they also want to be part of the music. Some dress the part, others sing along with gusto, while others just absorb and enjoy. I believe its not just good music that makes a concert, but the crowd as well. The artists need their energy, and the more the crowd gives, the more the artists and musicians give of themselves. It’s a win win situation for musician and concert goer and the result makes for a fabulous concert and equally fabulous photography! Some of the festivals I have had the privilege of photographing have an eclectic ensemble of fans which makes for great captures. Here is a collection of some of my favourite crowd moments at the various music concerts I have photographed over the years.
